The birth of the Marine Corps occurred on this day in 1775 in a humble tavern called Tun in Philadelphia. To all who have served, and all who are serving, happy birthday and Semper Fi. Enjoy your cake and tip your drinks for your fallen brothers in arms.
To the Civilians
For those of you not in the Marine Corps or not associated with the Corps, keep the Marines you may know or with whom you may come in contact today in your thoughts. A simple ‘happy birthday’ does the trick. If you feel like it, throw a ‘devil dog’ or a ‘leatherneck’ in there.
